Virginia Peninsula Irrigation System Backflow Inspection & Certification Services
Services > Design-Build > Installation > Maintenance > Auditing > Backflow Inspection/Certification
One of the fundamental responsibilities as it relates to irrigation is backflow inspections. At Knight-Scapes, we take this responsiblity seriously. That is why we employ licensed backflow inspectors with the experience to ensure proper system inspections and repair services.
Irrigation systems begin with a device known as a backflow preventer, which simply prohibit water from leaving the irrigation system and entering your drinking water. If the flow of water is reversed from an irrigation system back into the potable system, a backflow condition is created, which may open the door for contaminants to enter water sources used for drinking, bathing, etc. Such contaminants may include fertilizers, pesticides and animal residues, which, even in minuscule quantities, may put homes, families, and businesses at risk.
Connection between the potable water supply and a source of contamination is called cross-connection. Cross-connections may take place through Irrigation systems, bypass arrangements, jumper connections, swivel or changeover arrangements or other temporary arrangements through which backflow can occur.
Backflow preventers are required by law Virginia law. Your city or town building codes will dictate the type of preventer used in your system. VA law requires annual inspections and services of these critical devices.
